Winter skincare tips for all skin types to keep your skin dewy and glowing.

Let’s face it, every year winter comes around and draws out the plump, hydrated goodness of our skin turning it into this dull, chapped, raw, blistering mess. This year we bring you a few tips to save your skin with mind, body and lifestyle in mind.

The seasons come and go but that glow must remain eternal. Join me as we dive deep into the 3 secrets to maintaining your summer glow and dewy skin all winter (with bonus tips at the end!)

Tip #1 – Hydrate inside and out

Water is essential regardless of what time of year it is. It is recommended that during winter we increase our water intake a bit to 2-3Liters daily and ensure that we take our vitamins and supplements. Water can sometimes be boring so spice it up with some infused herbs. Our fave for the holidays is Sorrel. A drink that is very popular across the Caribbean around this time of year.

Recipe:

1 tbps Hibiscus Flower

1 tsp cinnamon powder

2 clove pieces

1 anise seed

1 Orange peel (or dried orange chunks)

Add these to 1/2 cup warm water then add the mixture to your larger bottle of water or try this infuser to keep you hydrated and also experience the benefits of these herbs. Hibiscus is rich in antioxidants, cinnamon to help you keep warm, clove is antibacterial and so much more.

Also keeping your skin hydrated is very important. This facial steamer can help hydrate and relax the skin. These lovely cleansers are great during the winter months (for face and body) since they won’t strip your skin. We did not forget the little ones with gentle tear free bubble bath (can be used as a shower gel) and Milk bath that are great for babies or women who are pregnant or nursing.

Tip #2 – Crème: the anti-ash solution

Yup, time to say bye-bye to lotion (and ashy skin) and hello to creams and body butters. Creams and body butters are better for winter and holiday time since it is thicker and seals moisture in better than a water based lotion can. Some of our body butters help with acne, discoloration and even can aid in reducing skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

They are gentle all natural and help your skin to get that radiant glow.

Tip #3 – Mindfulness for the Holidays

The holiday rush can be really overwhelming and this can lead to stress, break outs or even eczema flare-ups. This holiday season we encourage you to stay present and balanced. The holidays will come and go but how you enjoy it may change based on where your mind is at. A few minutes a day with some deep breathing, spending time with family or even just a walk can help.

Bonus Tip #4 – Don’t forget the Lips

We have ensured that our face would remain supple and dewy during the harsh winter months. Now let’s make sure that the look is complete with plump lips. We often forget or may not know how to properly deal with our lips but don’t worry OMI, a handmade Grenadian owned brand, has got you covered this season. With their Honey Lips scrub and lip balm to have you with baby soft lips for a more youthful appearance.

Bonus Tip #5 – SPF…. Period

Yes, it’s winter and the sun may not be ‘out and bad’ like it usually is but that does not mean you UV rays took a holiday. The last but most crucial step to your skincare routine is having a great SPF. There are a few great ones on the market that you can use to seal your look. Zinc is a mineral ingredient used in broad-spectrum sunscreens. The Nuba Skyn Glow Baby Body Butter has zinc and other herbs that can aid in protecting your skin from UVA and UVB rays. Nuba Bebi Hair and Body Butter also has ingredients that can protect your little ones.

Winter skincare routine is very important to maintaining your glow and you can have this glow all holiday long with these simple steps. Check out our quiz at go21degrees.com for your winter skincare needs and happy holidays to you and yours.
